Neighbours role for Ryan Thomas

Ryan Thomas is swapping Coronation Street for Ramsay Street with the news he has landed a role in Neighbours.

Ryan will play the role of Rafael Humphreys in the Aussie saga who has been billed as ‘a loner with dark secrets’.

The character will be seen on screen for the first time early next year and comes to Ramsay Street to confront a difficult chapter from his past.

“I grew up watching Neighbours so to get the chance to join the cast is amazing. I was on holiday with my daughter when I got a phone call from my agent asking if I’d like to play this part…I spoke to the producer and found out more – it was very different from anything I’d played before – it was quite a deep, dark story, that really interested me. It’s a new challenge and I can’t wait to start filming.” – Ryan Thomas

Ryan is best known for his role as Jason Grimshaw in ITV’s Coronation Street between 2000-2016. Ryan joined the series as part of the Grimshaw family with Sue Cleaver as mother Eileen and brother Todd played by Bruno Langley.

Jason was a bit of a heartthrob on the street, with many romances – but little long term commitment. His last storyline saw him clash with ‘bad boy’ Callum Logan, the fall-out from which led to him swapping the street for Thailand.

Since leaving the cobbles – his first acting job – Ryan has appeared on Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls.

“With his good looks and Corrie years under his belt, Ryan is the perfect handsome devil. His arrival in Erinsborough marks the start of darker times for a particular Ramsay St favourite. Prepare to be gripped.” – Greg Barnett, Commissioning Editor, Channel 5

Neighbours airs Monday – Friday on Channel 5 at 1.45pm and 5.30pm
