Fishing TV prepares for World Fishing Day

Fishing TV secures Fishbrain as the official app partner for World Fishing Day.

“Our primary aim for World Fishing Day is to bring together the global community of anglers, to celebrate the most popular sport in the world. What better way to do that than to work with the guys at Fishbrain, the most popular app for worldwide anglers. Fishing TV will be working to provide Fishbrain users with their own unique experience of World Fishing Day – providing snippets of content throughout the broadcast, access to competitions & opportunities to have their user-generated content featured in the broadcast.” – Fishing TV’s Commercial Director, Ed Burgass

Fishing TV have revealed that Fishbrain, the most popular mobile app and social network for fishing, has become the official app partner for their World Fishing Day, on 23rd June 2018. World Fishing Day is set to be the first ever global celebration of angling and will be accompanied by one of the most ambitious live broadcast projects ever undertaken – to deliver a network of free fishing events and broadcast 24-hours of live fishing content to Fishing TV’s audience in summer 2018.

Stateside non-profit organisation Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, conservation organisations Trout Unlimited and Bonefish & Tarpon Trust and Icelandic angler Vala Árnadóttir have also been confirmed as new ambassadors for the initiative.

Fishbrain provides everyone from beginner to pro anglers with the tools and insights to fully enjoy the world’s most popular hobby. The app’s interactive map helps anglers find hot new fishing spots and see what other people are catching, with which method and precisely where, and includes additional features such as Fish Species Recognition, fishing forecasts and more. The app will not only be promoting the event to their user base of more than five million anglers, but will be an integral part of the live broadcast. Live data from the app will be incorporated into the show, as well as content from Fishbrain’s users in the form of videos and photos.

Furthermore, Fishbrain’s network of fishing ambassadors will feature in the show, helping to showcase the enormous variety of fishing opportunities that the world has to offer, with Bubba Bedre, Luana Pigatto, Chris Fowler, Robert Field, Jason Schall, Jennifer Schall, James Garrison, Ryan Bubba Betancourt and Chasten Whitfield looking forward to sharing their skill and knowledge with a global audience.

In 1958 ATV aired the first regular UK television series on fishing with host Noele Gordon presenting angling programme A New Angle on Noele Gordon. The series saw her take up the position of President of the All British Lady Anglers Association.

“We’re thrilled to be part of the inaugural World Fishing Day. We’re huge believers in the power of building community through a shared love of fishing, and through this partnership with FishingTV, we hope to encourage even more people to join the global network of anglers.” – CEO of Fishbrain, Johan Attby
