Sky Cinema launch Sky Original Films
Sky is to launch its own ‘originals’ movie service while the movie broadcaster also announces a new deal with Warner Bros.

Building on its successful original productions entertainment strategy, Sky has announced the launch of Sky Cinema Original Films. By acquiring exclusive rights and commissioning original movie productions, Sky will provide customers with even more great film content, in addition to the 1,000 movies available on demand.
The first film to be released, animated comedy Monster Family, will launch in March 2018, with the Rob Cohen directed action movie The Hurricane Heist set to follow later in April with sci-fi crime thriller Anon and British production Final Score coming later this year.
As part of this move Sky plans to show its original films in cinemas at the same time as they become available for Sky Cinema customers. For sky customers this means they will not need to wait several months before they can watch the movie at home, and it is positive news for UK cinemas across the UK too, as they are set to benefit from Sky’s marketing and the increased footfall that brings.
This is only the start for Sky Cinema Original Films with more movies to be announced soon the company note. The movie broadcaster also announced today that they have agreed an extension to their relationship with Warner Bros. The deal will see customers in the UK, Germany and Austria benefit from access to Warner’s latest films. The agreement will give viewers the chance to see Warner Bros. blockbusters such as Wonder Woman premiere on Sky Cinema sooner than ever before. A special channels will also be dedicated to some of the biggest movie franchises from the company, tapping into Warners’ vast archive of celluloid greats.
