Tom Burke returns to BBC One as Cormoran Strike

Strike – Career Of Evil airs from later this month.

Burke reprises his role as the titular private detective alongside Holliday Grainger as Strike’s assistant Robin Ellacott for the third story in the telly series based on the crime novels J.K Rowling writes as Robert Galbraith.

Airing last August/September, the first two instalments, Strike – The Cuckoo’s Calling and Strike – The Silkworm, were received positively by critics and viewers.

In the third Cormoran and Robin are forced to confront ghosts from their pasts when a courier delivers a dismembered leg to their office in London’s Denmark Street. Their partnership is put under strain as Robin’s wedding approaches and they disagree on how to ensnare a man who abuses children.

J.K. Rowling, Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts and Elizabeth Kilgarriff executive produce based on a script by Tom Edge, who has also written The Silkworm and is also an executive producer. Charles Sturridge directs and Jackie Larkin produces.

This marks a continuation of the beeb’s relationship with Brontë Film and TV and J.K Rowling, who is best known for the Harry Potter fantasy series. Brontë previously produced an adaption of Rowling’s The Casual Vacancy for BBC One.
