Alan Carr backed memorial bench beats target

Last week comedian Alan Carr donated towards the bench in memory of Dexter Liebow, with the £2,500 required beaten by over £200.

Channel 4 personalty Carr donated £1,500 in memory of Bristol superhero Dexter Liebow who died of cancer last month, at just eight years old.

The donation allowed the JustGiving crowdfunding page to hit its £2,500 target to help fund a beautiful hand carved Ironman bench in memory of Dexter which will be placed in his school conservation area. Since then others have also continued to donate taking the total to over £2,700.

Dexter, from Kingswood in South Gloucestershire, was diagnosed with neuroblastoma in 2016. He underwent more than 20 rounds of chemotherapy and spent months in Bristol Children’s Hospital before he sadly lost his battle, on February 17, with his parents by his side but his journey inspired thousands.

Now those close to him are hoping to create a hand-carved benched themed as one of his favourite superheroes, Marvel’s Iron Man. On the JustGiving page it reads:

“We thought it would be lovely to put a very special hand carved ironman bench inside of his schools conservation area for all of his friends to visit and share many great memories of their kind, caring, positive and happy friend Dexter. We have set this crowdfunding page up to cover the cost of having this bench especially made in Dexter’s memory for the school.”
