Take That to mark 30th anniversary with beeb special

Take That and Us will air later this year on BBC One.

The sixty-minute special will feature fans from all over the country and beyond sharing how the most successful boy band in UK chart history touched their lives. The band will react to stories and share their own favourite memories and hitherto unseen footage from their personal collections.

“This entertaining programme will shine a light on how everything changes as we celebrate the band and the music they’ve created over an incredible career.” – Kate Phillips, BBC Controller of Entertainment Commissioning

Fans are being encouraged to share their stories for possible inclusion by visiting www.mytakethatstory.com.

Take that – currently a trio of Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Mark Owen – came to prominence in the early 1990s with hits including Never Forget, Relight My Fire and Back for Good. Inspired by New Kids on the Block, Nigel Martin-Smith put the band together in 1989 with Robbie Williams and Jason Orange also a part of the original five-strong line-up. In 1995, Williams quit the band with the remaining four members carrying on without him for a further year.

The band regrouped in 2006 without Robbie although he did later re-join them for a period, while Orange quit in 2014.

“Has it really been 30 years? There’s only one way to find out we said, as we accepted the offer of taking a closer look at our three decades in music. We’ve handed over our own personal camcorders from the 90s, we’ve asked fans to share their stories from over the years and we’re bringing the story up to date by sharing some behind the scenes from our lives today as we prepare for the launch of our Greatest Hits record.” – Take That

Take That and Us will be broadcast on BBC One later this year. It will be produced by Indigo TV.
