Good Morning Britain to feature in Hollyoaks scenes

BBC and Channel 4 personalities will also feature in a windy week of Hollyoaks.

GMB is to feature in Hollyoaks next week.

Hollyoaks has used real-life television and radio presenters from the BBC, ITV and C4 to anchor it’s ‘storm week’ which will begin in episodes starting October 22nd.

As ‘storm Belinda’ threatens to hit Hollyoaks village the updates on the events of the village will be brought to viewers by Good Morning Britain hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid.

Weather reports during the week will be presented by BBC weather presenter and Strictly Come Dancing star Carol Kirkwood. Viewers will also hear radio reports from BBC Radio 2 presenter Ken Bruce, and regional radio host Debbie Mac. The extreme weather threatens the wedding of Ste Hay and Harry Thomson. And as it hits the village many of the guests find themselves taking refuge in local boozer The Dog In The Pond.

The first episode of storm week can be seen later today (Friday, October 19th) on E4’s ‘first look’ episode which airs at 7pm. Channel 4 viewers will see the week of episodes as usual from 6.30pm, Monday to Friday.

Kate Garraway appeared in Hollyoaks as a reporter last year.

It’s not the first time a Good Morning Britain personality has featured in Hollyoaks. Last year Kate Garraway featured as a reporter during the court case concerning the murder of Amy Barnes (Ashley Slanina-Davies) who was killed on her wedding day.

Other real-life news reporters have previously appeared in soap operas, including Eamonn Holmes who, back in his Sky News days, popped up in Hollyoaks when he interviewed Anne “Mitzeee” Minniver (Rachel Shenton) Bob Warman of Central News appeared as himself in Crossroads reporting on a strike at the famous Midland motel, while BBC News’ John Sergeant popped up in Casualty as a reporter and Sir Trevor McDonald was seen during Coronation Street’s live 40th anniversary episode, in the ITV News studio, reporting on Prince Charles’s visit to Weatherfield and meeting Councillor Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls).

Corrie also, as part of it’s 2010 ‘tram crash’ storyline, broadcast a ‘news flash’ directly after the crash episode featuring ITV News presenter Alastair Stewart who announced reports of an explosion on Coronation Street and linked to a reporter at the scene, giving eyewitness commentary as if the crash was real.
