Vick Hope latest to depart Strictly Come Dancing

The Capital FM Breakfast DJ bowed out of the competition this weekend.

Vick and her professional partner Graziano Di Prima were joined in the dance off by Seann Walsh and his professional partner Katya Jones after the judges’ scores were added to the results of the viewers’ votes.

Both couples performed their routines for a second time, Seann and Katya did their Quickstep to Lightning Bolt by Jake Bugg and Vick and Graziano did their Cha Cha to More Than Friends by James Hype feat. Kelli-Leigh.

The judges then delivered their verdicts: Craig Revel Horwood chose to save Vick and Graziano whilst Darcey Bussell and guest judge Alfonso Ribeiro favoured Seann and Katya, who were also saved by head judge Shirley Ballas in a casting vote.

Craig said ‘both dances were very different’ however each of the pairs need ‘technique as well’. He opted to save Vick and Graziano, believing they gave the best on the night whilst Darcey saved Seann and Katya as she thought they had given a ‘cleaner performance’.

Stand-in judge Alfonso noted that ‘everybody really stepped up their game this time around’ going on to state that he felt Seann and Katya had ‘stepped up the most’, with finally Shirley believing that both couples had put their best foot forward in the results show, but going simply on the performance she enjoyed the most opted to save Seann.

The saving of Seann may come as a disappointment to the tabloid newspapers who have been gunning for the demise of the comedian after he was snapped kissing Katya two weeks ago. The funnyman was, at the time, in a relationship whilst Katya is married to fellow Strictly pro-dancer Neil Jones.

Asked if he had any words for Vick, Graziano said: “You did brilliantly and you are brilliant, thank you. You really make me proud day by day.”

Sunday’s results show also saw a special musical performance from Paloma Faith who performed Loyal. The remaining eleven couples will take to the dancefloor in next week’s Halloween special on Saturday 27th October at 6.50pm. Overnight viewing figures saw the 20th of October outing of SCD once again dominate the ratings with a peak of 11 million viewers while over on ITV, the first live X Factor of the series pulled in just under 5 million.
