Royal documentaries to air on True Entertainment to mark Prince Charles’ 70th
True Entertainment is the latest network to mark the royal celebration, with both ITV and BBC One airing special programmes for the occasion.
To celebrate Prince Charles’ 70th Birthday on 14th November, True Entertainment will be airing a special line-up of royal documentaries all day on Sunday 18th November. Some of the highlights include King Charles and Queen Camilla – Into The Unknown.
The marriage of Prince Charles and Camilla has been shrouded in controversy since Camilla’s involvement in Charles’ difficult marriage to Princess Diana. For the monarchy, their marriage was a step into the unknown. The documentary explores the past, present and future of a royal marriage that survived all odds.
Later in the day viewers can sit down and ponder William and Harry Prisoners of Celebrity. This documentary draws on the authoritative views of royal experts who provide a fresh look at the princes’ journey for fulfilment and identity in society.
While there is the joys of Harry and Meghan: A Very Modern Romance. This documentary explores the social background that makes this adventurous marriage seem thoroughly in keeping with the new commitments of the British Royal Family. Following in the tradition of Prince William and Kate Middleton, Harry and Meghan are thoroughly in step with the hopes and aspirations of the young in Britain and indeed the world.
Contributors include best-selling authors Andrew Morton (Diana: Her True Story and Meghan: A Hollywood Princess), Jeffrey Archer (Kain and Abel); historians Sir Anthony Seldon, Sarah Bradford and Viscountess Bango and royal journalists Richard Kay (Daily Mail), Katie Nicholl (Mail on Sunday, Vanity Fair) and Emily Nash (Hello!) all offer their thoughts on the royal couple.
ITV first announced a big bash for Charles with a gala special, We Are Most Amused and Amazed, from the iconic London Palladium. It follows in the same format as their celebration special a decade ago, We Are Most Amused. The 60th birthday special featured the likes of Robin Williams, Joan Rivers, Eric Idle, Rowan Atkinson, Michael McIntyre, Bill Bailey and a much anticipated reunion between John Cleese and Andrew Sachs who recreated his classic comedy role of Manuel from Fawlty Towers.
While earlier this month BBC One revealed it will air a 60-minute documentary entitled Prince, Son and Heir: Charles at 70. For this observational documentary, the film-maker John Bridcut has had exclusive access to the Prince over the past twelve months, both at work and behind the scenes, at home and abroad. He speaks to those who know him best, HRH The Duchess of Cornwall, and his sons, the Dukes of Cambridge and Sussex.
