Hollywood Game Night reworked for UK Channel 5 series

BBC Studioworks to facilitate new Channel 5 commission, Celebrity Game Night.

Movies and television programmes have been created on the BBC Elstree Studios site for over 100 years.

“Hollywood Game Night has now run in the US for a number of series and has been a massive hit, so we’re very excited to be working with Monkey on the UK’s version of this popular format,” – Meryl McLaren, Commercial Manager, BBC Studioworks.

BBC Studioworks will be providing full studio and technical services to Channel 5’s brand new gameshow, Celebrity Game Night.

The production sees actor and radio personality, Liza Tarbuck, take on hosting duties in front of a live audience for production company Monkey’s take on the triple-Emmy-winning American show, Hollywood Game Night.

Liza will be joined by two teams of celebrity guests, led by captains Danny Baker and Susan Calman. The teams will go head-to head in a series of entertaining parlour games that test their pop culture knowledge, acting skills, and nerves of steel.

The six sixty-minute episodes will be facilitated in BBC Studioworks 11,800 sq. ft. Studio D at BBC Elstree Centre, with two episodes recording back-to-back today, Monday 29 and Tuesday 30 October.

The production will be supported by Studio D’s production galleries, EVS tapeless recording facilities and will also draw upon BBC Studioworks’ audio, electrical, engineering and scenic teams.

“It is great to see Studio D at BBC Elstree becoming much sought after again. It has been home to some of the biggest programmes broadcast on both ITV and BBC TV in the past sixty years. Including Morecambe and Wise, Emergency Ward 10, This Is Tom Jones, Edward VII and Benny Hill to name only a few.” – TV Critic Vivian Summers

Celebrity Game Night will air on Channel 5 in 2019.
