Emmerdale character Amy Wyatt has been recast
Emmerdale are revisiting the character of Amy Wyatt with a new actress in the part.
Amy was last seen in 2013 played by Chelsea Halfpenny, who won’t be returning to the role.
“I’m incredibly excited to meet all of the talented cast and crew at ITV’s Emmerdale,” Natalie told The Sun. “I feel very lucky to be joining the cast of such a loved and respected show.”
The role will henceforth be played by newcomer Natalie Ann Jamieson, ITV has announced. Amy was previously played by Chelsea Halfpenny between 2010-2013.
Amy was brought into the soap as the teenage foster daughter of Val and Eric. The character’s most notable storyline saw her fall pregnant to bad boy Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) before giving their son Kyle up for adoption.
The character later tried to run away with the tot after learning of the death of his adoptive parents, but she came to her senses in the end and scarpered to Ireland without him. Kyle now lives with Cain and his wife Moira (Natalie J Robb) after his adoptive gran Joanie Wright (Denise Black) also passed away after connecting with the Dingle side of Kyle’s family in Amy’s absence including having an affair with Kyle’s paternal grandfather, Zak Dingle.
Amy’s mum Kerry Wyatt (Laura Norton) remains in the village as well, but someone who won’t be there to react to her return is Val, who died in 2015 after a helicopter crashed into Pete and Debbie’s wedding celebrations.
Halfpenny went on to join the cast of BBC One’s Casualty, however despite recently leaving her role as Alicia Munroe in the medical saga, she won’t be stepping back into Amy’s shoes with the news that the role has been recast.
“I can’t wait to find out what the future holds for Amy!” Natalie added
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, STV and UTV with an additional episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
