Filming begins on the second series of Liar

The second series of ITV and Sundance TV’s six-part thriller Liar, written by Harry and Jack Williams is now in production.

Over 9 million viewers were left reeling at the discovery of Andrew Earlham’s murdered body at the climax of season 1. The second season picks up three weeks after an arrest warrant was issued for Andrew Earlham for the sexual assault of 19 women. When Andrew’s body is found in the Kent marshes, Detective Renton alongside DS Rory Maxwell are left to delve into Andrew’s past and unpack the events of the three crucial weeks leading up to his murder.

Joining principal stars Joanne Froggatt and Ioan Gruffudd for this final chapter are a number of new characters including Katherine Kelly as DI Karen Renton, Howard Charles as Carl Peterson and Amy Nuttall as Winnie Peterson.

Liar series 2 will be executive produced by the Williams brothers, Christopher Aird and James Strong, the latter will also direct alongside Chris Sweeney while James Dean will produce. It is a co-production of Two Brothers Pictures for ITV and SundanceTV in association with all3media international.

The first series – which is available to US and Canadian viewers on Sundance Now, AMC Networks’ premium streaming service – was ITV’s highest rated new drama of 2017.
