Netflix to visit The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia

The ‘live action’ comedy series has been co-created by Mario Lopez and Seth Kurland.

Netflix has ordered sixteen episodes of The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia, which the streaming service describe as ‘a new multi-camera comedy series co-created by Mario Lopez and Seth Kurland.’

The plot will follow lead character Ashley Garcia who viewers will come to find is the world’s only 15-and-a-half-year-old robotics engineer and rocket scientist. Things take an upward turn when Ashley gets the chance to work for NASA, she moves across the country to live with her fun-loving Uncle Victor, a pro football player turned high school coach who’s never met a responsibility he can’t shirk.

Newcomer Paulina Chavez stars as Ashley and singer and actor Jencarlos Canela will feature as Victor.

The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia joins Netflix’s growing slate of live action series featuring kids and families, which includes No Good Nick, Alexa & Katie, as well as upcoming series Malibu Rescue, Family Reunion, Team Kaylie and The Baby-Sitters Club.

Netflix also announced this week a new kids animated series, City of Ghosts a hybrid documentary and animated series that sees a group of kids discover stories around their city by communicating directly with the ghosts who inhabit it.
