Mick Carter and Eileen Grimshaw make for popular soap parents
The EastEnders and Coronation Street regulars have topped a poll to become serial’s favourite soap dad and mum.
Mick Carter is the UK soap viewers’ favourite father.
Danny Dyer’s EastEnders character Mick Carter has been voted UK’s favourite soap dad.
The UK’s favourite soap dad is none other than the pub landlord from the East End with 7% of the overall votes in a poll conducted by GalaBingo.com. Always a hit with the ladies, it is unsurprising that women were more than twice as likely as men to vote for Danny Dyer’s character (9% vs 4%).
Mick was also more popular with younger viewers, receiving three times as many votes from 18-24 year olds than from fans over 65 (12% vs 4%). Despite being the longest serving character and appearing in more than 3000 episodes, Albert Square stalwart Ian Beale only received 0.5% of votes.

Over 2,000 soap-watchers gave insight into the UK’s favourite fictional families, as well as the top soap mums, dads and pets. The Duckworths undoubtedly have stolen the hearts of the UK, chosen by almost one in 10 people (9%), followed by Coronation Street’s the Platts and Emmerdale’s the Dingles with 5%.

As the nation’s top soap family, they have been through zany misadventures such as Vera posing as a widow to catch Jack on a dating service, as well as more heartfelt moments like when the family took in Tyrone Dobbs after his mother was imprisoned.
