Trigonometry for BBC Two
Trigonometry is a love story about three people who are made for each other the Beeb have announced.
“Duncan and Effie’s unique and beautiful scripts demanded three extraordinary, honest and fearless actors to play their leads. And I am delighted that in Gary, Thalissa and Ariane, they have met their sweethearts.” – Piers Wenger, Controller of BBC Drama
Written by Duncan Macmillan and Effie Woods in their first joint television project Trigonometry brings Gary Carr, Ariane Labed and Thalissa Teixeira together as the leading cast.
In crowded and expensive London, cash-strapped couple Gemma (Teixeira) and Kieran (Carr) open their small apartment to a third person. Somehow, their new addition, Ray (Labed), makes the flat seem bigger, not smaller. Gradually, many things become easier, nicer and better with an extra pair of hands.
“Trigonometry is just one of those special projects. I’m so grateful to be joining this stellar team of artists and creatives to tell this very human story.” – Gary Carr
As this unusual relationship becomes unavoidable, the trio approach it with the prudence of people in their 30s. Is it possible to love in a different way? But even when common sense, friends and family are telling them that this complicated relationship is doomed, Gemma, Kieran and Ray simply can’t be apart.
“I’m very happy to have the chance to work with Athina Tsangari once again. Her vision, and the tone of these beautiful scripts is going to create something absolutely unique.” – Ariane Labed
Further cast include Rebecca Humphries, Isabella Laughland, Ambreen Razia and Anne Consigny.
