Further episodes of I am a Killer announced

ZNAK&CO today announced a second run of episodes of their true crime series I Am A Killer.

“I Am A Killer plays a key part in our programming strategy; sitting alongside other locally produced hits like Murdertown with Katherine Kelly and the forthcoming Evil Up Close. Our audience of passionate true crime fans appreciated the thoughtful and carefully crafted approach of the filmmakers to such controversial subject matter. We are proud to bring it back for a second season.” – Diana Carter, CI Commissioning Editor

Featuring in-depth interviews with some of the longest serving prisoners in America, the first series premiered on Crime+Investigation last October, and was hailed by critics as true crime at its most “brutal, captivating and unsettling”, and re-opened the debate over rehabilitation and restitution in America’s criminal justice system.

The series has been commended as an intimate and humane study of Death Row prisoners and the impact of their crimes on their communities and families. Unlike the first season, the ten-part second season also features women “lifers” as well as Death Row inmates and explores themes of repentance and redemption.

The announcement of a second run is timed to coincide with the release of the first series, now available on Netflix.

“Its amazing access and incredibly gripping stories have made this format a global fan favourite and we can feel that fervour. Under Danny’s factual department, we are expanding our true crime programming and prioritising the genre with an entire team of crime experts.” – Natalka Znak, Executive Producer
