Sixty years of Corrie Christmases celebrated by ITV
ITV will mark Coronation Street’s 60th anniversary with a prime time festive one-off special.
Christmas in Corrie, 1960s style.
“Corrie at Christmas promises to bring joy through iconic archive and cast memories from Christmases past in Weatherfield. Peace and goodwill can be short-lived on the cobbles during the festive season which always brings drama as well as plenty of fun and heart-warming moments – all captured in this documentary which will pack a Christmas punch.” – Executive Producer Sue Walton
Corrie at Christmas is a seasonal special to be produced by ITV Daytime for transmission in a prime time slot. The hour-long documentary will delve into six decades of archive to bring together some of the most memorable Christmas moments in Coronation Street’s long running history alongside interviews with cast members past and present with their own reflections on Corrie Christmases past.
Christmas down Weatherfield way has always been a time for family and friends, whether a happy festive lunch or a row over a not so festive fall out. There have been weddings, fires, affairs, hostage-situations and happier moments such as births, reunions and sing-alongs over the years since Corrie burst onto screens from the Granada Television Studios in Manchester back in December 1960.
Christmas 1987 became a classic as Hilda Ogden waved farewell to Weatherfield.
Fizz and Tyrone Dobbs brought Lapland to Weatherfield to cheer up their sick daughter Hope in 2015.
