Emmerdale drops Asan N’Jie over knife threat
The actor has been ditched from the ITV soap after an altercation with Jamie Lomas at Monday night’s TV Choice Awards.
Asan N’Jie’s role as Ellis Chapman in the rural saga became untenable after he was caught on camera threatening to stab Hollyoaks star Jamie, with The Sun now reporting that ITV chiefs have dropped the foolish actor with immediate effect.
“Emmerdale suspended Asan N’Jie yesterday pending further investigation into an incident at a central London hotel on Monday night. ITV executives have met with him this morning and as a consequence Asan’s contract has been terminated with immediate effect.”- Emmerdale spokesperson
It was earlier reported that N’Jie and Lomas had squared up to one another – over what it is not yet known – after the awards ceremony at London’s Hilton Park Lane Hotel.
Lomas’s former Hollyoaks co-star Malique Thompson-Dwyer intervened in the scuffle and tried to direct him away, with N’Jie calling after them “I’m going to f***ing knife you.”
“My behaviour at the TV Choice Awards was completely unacceptable and very much out of character. I sincerely apologise to everybody who has been affected especially Jamie Lomas, the whole Emmerdale team, our audience, ITV, my family, and the organisers of the TV Choice Awards. I am devastated, accept full responsibility for my actions and I am determined to learn from this.” – Asan N’Jie
N’Jie made his first appearance in Emmerdale in September of last year; his character Ellis has since seen a feud with his brother Billy, a stabbing during a night out and the arrival of his shady businessman dad Al.
