Sink or Swim, Channel 4 at 9.15pm
The celebrity eight, who are all barely able to swim, have been guided by a team of leading figures from the world of swimming, including Olympic silver medallist Keri-anne Payne and adventurer Ross Edgley, best known for being the first person in history to swim around Britain. The experts have given vital training and support to transform the celebrities into strong swimmers. In this final episode, the Channel swim is fast approaching and it’s down to the experts to decide whether the remaining celebrities have it in them to take on their ultimate swim test: crossing the Channel in relay. Their 12 weeks of training have come to an end and now they must work together to attempt the 22-mile crossing to France. Battling the sea, weather and their own endurance, they’ll swim for upwards of 20 hours if the attempt is successful. |
River City, BBC One Scotland at 8pmAnother chance to see River City, first screened last night on the BBC Scotland Channel. Held hostage by Dougie hubby for a day, Scarlett takes matters into her own hands and escapes. Back in Shieldinch, a stunned Scarlett returns in her wedding dress and shocks Bob and Stevie with the terrifying events of the day. While Scarlett’s sons vow revenge, Poppy desperate to understand Dougie’s wrongdoings. Armed with a gun, Stevie comes face-to-face with Dougie and a tussle follows with devastating consequences for the community. Later, when Gabriel unwittingly comes across an unhinged and armed Dougie, he tries to reason with him but only ends up taking a bullet. As events unfold outside the Oyster Café, it gives AJ the chance to connect with foster child, Bex. He senses her unease at the drama unfolding and reassures her she’s safe in Shieldinch. |
