Dean Gaffney ditched from EastEnders

His final scenes as Robbie Jackson have already aired.

The Daily Star claims that the actor contacted a woman on Facebook and asked her for some revealing photos, leading to his culling from the saga.

The tabloid first reported on Dean’s social media exploits in June 2019, noting that he had contacted a dental nurse in the middle of the night and asked her for pictures of her boobs and bum. EastEnders bosses subsequently decided upon a low key exit for Robbie, taking advantage of Dean’s contract coming up for renewal.

Airing a few weeks ago, Robbie’s final scenes saw him abruptly depart the Square for India to be with his son, Sami, after getting word that he had been in an accident. Little did viewers know that he would not be returning from the trip.

“Dean knows he’s made some bad decisions and he is working hard to get his life back on track. He split up from his long-term girlfriend and then he lost his job. But he knows he only has himself to blame. He’s always been a popular member of the cast and everyone loves Robbie Jackson so it’s a real shame that he will no longer be on our screens.” – A spokesperson told the paper

Gaffney played the role of Robbie between 1993-2003 and briefly in 2004, 2010 and 2015, before re-joining the soap full time in 2017.

Robbie’s storylines since 2017 have included his relationship with Donna Yates and, upset about the lack of contact he has with his son, failing to return Sami to his mum Nita, prompting her to pay him an angry visit.

“We never discuss artists’ contracts,” noted a spokeswoman for the Beeb saga.
