Lucy Fallon: Corrie exit is “really scary”
The actress is leaving her role as Bethany Platt in the long-running soap.
Fallon addressed her exit from the cobbles in an interview with BANG Showbiz at Nickelodeon’s SlimeFest 2019 in Blackpool admitting that she is uncertain of what her post-Corrie future might look like.
“It is really scary because obviously I don’t know what’s going to happen,” she explained. “[but] I’m not putting too much pressure on myself, I’ll see what happens.”
While she is yet to be handed any further acting opportunities, she cited dramas and short films as an ambition.
Fallon added that she is “not 100 per cent sure” how Bethany’s exit will play out, noting that the character’s fate lies entirely in the hands of the writers.
“I’ve just got to let them do what they want to do,” she said.
The character of Bethany has been on-and-off a part of Coronation Street storylines since June 2000.
Fallon has played the role since 2015 with Bethany being central to a number hard-hitting plots over the past four years including a gritty grooming/sexual exploitation storyline that saw her lured into evil pimp Nathan Curtis’ seedy web.
Most recently she has fallen for Daniel Osbourne and the two found themselves in a clinch as he struggled to cope with his wife Sinead’s terminal illness.
