Brexit comedy documentary for Kieran Hodgson
Brexit forms part of two comedies tonight with Kieran Hodgson pondering the issue on Channel 4 while BBC Radio 4 return to Little Britain.
Not leaving today, Brexit rumbles on.
“I’ve made an extended audition tape to try and play every politician in the next series of ‘The Crown’. With any luck, it might also be a bit of a different take on Brexit and our European relationship, finding out how this has gone on longer than we thought, is way more complicated than we thought, and ain’t going nowhere! The only solution I can think of is to be very silly with Harry Enfield and Liza Tarbuck, so I’ve done that.” – Kieran Hodgson

We’re leaving Europe. But how did we get into it in the first place? And after we leave, how do we put a divided country, or a divided family, back together?
The hour long show seeks the answer to Brexit in this one-off comedy documentary. This timely programme courtesy of Channel 4 is written and presented by Comedian Kieran Hodgson.
The production, How Europe Stole My Mum, also stars Harry Enfield, Liza Tarbuck and Tom Palmer who guide viewers on a journey to understand how and why Brexit split the country in half and explain how it was that we came to be in Europe in the first instance.
Channel 4 note the show is ‘an irreverent, personal piece about Brexit’, which subverts the conventions of factual shows and illustrates the UK’s political landscape at a vital turning point in our history, with impressions and flights of fancy.
Meanwhile earlier this week BBC Radio 4 announced a one-off special of Little Britain reuniting Matt Lucas and David Walliams in the re-titled Little Brexit. The programme will catch up with many of Matt and David’s much-loved characters to see how the hottest topic of modern British history is affecting their lives.
Characters we’ll be hearing from include Dafydd, Vicky Pollard, Emily Howard, Marjorie Dawes, Mr Mann, and Lou and Andy.
“Matt Lucas and David Walliams are uniquely talented writers and performers as well as one of the UK’s most loved comedy duos. It’s a privilege to have them back on Radio 4, where Little Britain first began almost 20 years ago.” – Sioned Wiliam, Commissioning Editor for Radio 4 comedy
How Europe Stole My Mum airs on Channel 4 tonight, October 31st, at 11.05pm. Little Brexit airs on BBC Radio 4 at 6.30pm.
