Children in Need DIY SOS special heads to Blackburn

The Children In Need special airs later this week.

The DIY SOS team descend on Blackburn as they embark on a huge challenge in aid of BBC Children in Need – transforming a rundown church hall into accommodation and a support centre for Nightsafe, a charity which receives funding from BBC Children in Need and provides support to young people who are homeless or vulnerably housed.

This special programme shares a collection of stories from people who have been supported by Nightsafe during their lives, as well as those who work for the charity.

The programme follows the trials and tribulations of the team and hundreds of volunteers and tradespeople as they work against the clock to create a new accommodation centre for Nightsafe to use.

The 2019 appeal will be transmitted live from the BBC’s Elstree studios on Friday 15th November. The Beeb note that viewers can ‘expect a special night full of fun for all ages’ presided over by Tess Daly, Ade Adepitan, Graham Norton, Mel Giedroyc and Marvin and Rochelle Humes. Plus, comedian Tom Allen will also be taking on hosting duties this year as he joins the BBC Children In Need presenting line-up for the first time.

BBC Children in Need, BBC One, 7.30-10pm on November 15th. DIY SOS Children in Need Special, BBC One, Wednesday November 13th at 8pm.
