Children In Need takes over BBC One
Telly Today: The last in the series, we look at the highlights from the box for Friday November 15th.

It’s the time of year when repeats increase and decent daily highlights prove more and more difficult to find. It maybe lazy programmers, or just a bleak mid-winter. Either way we’ll be back with a look at all the Christmas highlights in late December. Until then Shaun carries on with the weekend televisual picks in Best on the Box.

The annual night of fundraising for Children in Need projects across the UK is back and bigger than ever, with the always brilliant hosts Tess Daly, Ade Adepitan, Graham Norton, Mel Giedroyc.
There’ll be plenty of entertainment, including a trip to the country’s most famous ballroom for a Strictly special with the cast of EastEnders, a visit from Doctor Who, a Star Wars spectacular, the long-awaited return of Crackerjack to BBC One, Countryfile presenters as you’ve never seen them before and an extra special surprise from the England Football Team.
Plus plenty of all singing and all-dancing studio performances from West End shows Big and Circus 1903; the Children in Need Choir sing live up and down the country; the One Show Rickshaw finishes its epic journey in the studio, plus lots of great music including performances from Louis Tomlinson and Michael Ball and Alfie Boe.
As always throughout the night there will be many films focusing on the incredible and inspiring stories of the brave children who are supported by some of the 3,000+ Children in Need projects around the UK.
From start to finish they’ll be thank yous to the TV shows, radio stations, corporate sponsors and big stars who have gone above and beyond to raise money, plus celebrities will be live in the studio to put some more fun into fundraising!
And of course there would be no Children in Need without the fantastic fundraisers across Britain who will be celebrated for their fantastic fundraising feats, plus the nations and regions of Britain will all be doing their bit and showcasing what they’ve been up to this year and how they’ve been raising money for Children in Need, and a super-fundraiser will be awarded the Sir Terry Wogan Fundraiser Of The Year Award 2019.

This year’s BBC Children in Need Bargain Hunt Special will see presenter Natasha Raskin Sharp and antiques experts Tim Weeks and Thomas Forrester lead a dazzling line-up of celebrity contestants as they compete to raise as much money as possible for BBC Children in Need.
The episode will see comedian Joe Pasquale and ventriloquist Paul Zerdin and sidekick, Sam on the red team. On the blue team BBC Radio Berkshire presenter, Debbie McGee will be joined by puppeteer Richard Cadell and pals Sooty and Sweep.
As part of the Bargain Hunt special, Debbie McGee, Richard Cadell and Sooty visit the Evelina London Children’s Hospital to see how Rays Of Sunshine – a charity funded by BBC Children in Need – is supporting unwell children and young people in hospital by providing entertainment to help make a positive difference to their emotional wellbeing.

The Dragons from Dragons’ Den dine out at the I’ll Get This restaurant in this special episode for Children In Need.
However, rather than one of them paying the bill they’ll all be making donations to Children in Need – with the amounts increasing as the evening progresses! Current Dragons Peter Jones, Tej Lalvani, Touker Suleyman and Sara Davies are joined by former Dragon Sarah Willingham.

The big night of fundraising continues with Rochelle and Marvin Humes, and brand new host comedian Tom Allen taking charge until 12.30am.
There will be more unmissable entertainment as children take control of Graham Norton’s red chair, and Children in Need specials of The Hit List and Mock The Week as well as extra special messages from The Greatest Dancer and Call The Midwife. Plus for the first time ever Pudsey has jetted off abroad to meet some fabulous fundraisers in Cyprus.
There will be more incredible and inspiring stories of the brave children who are supported by the generosity of viewers’ donations as well as more thank yous to the brilliant fundraising efforts by the people of Britain. There will be music from Westlife as well as a special track from the Children in Need Got It Covered album and the West End cast of Tina Turner The Musical performing live.
