Channel 4’s Alternative Election Night to return
Channel 4 is bringing back its ‘Alternative Election Night’ with a live eight-hour show on Thursday 12th December.
Krishnan Guru-Murthy, Katherine Ryan and Rylan Clark-Neal will be joined by an ‘eclectic mix of political figures and comedic talent’ with the broadcast promising ‘top-class analysis and some much-needed laughs’.
Clare Balding will have the results as they happen, Matt Forde will run the Alternative News Desk and Rob Rinder will be out and about assessing the mood on the ground.
The less formal take on the general election will also include contributions from ex-Home Secretary Amber Rudd, former Labour Deputy Leader Tom Watson and comedians Sophie Willan and Tez Ilyas.
“This is the night that could change everything. There will be shocks, upsets, tears and laughter and I can’t wait to share the most exciting election night I can remember with this hugely impressive, funny and insightful gang of political obsessives and wits that Channel 4 have assembled. Let’s hope results night is when it gets sensational and surprising.” – Krishnan Guru-Murthy
Channel 4 News Political Editor Gary Gibbon will have all the breaking news and detailed analysis whilst a team of correspondents will be stationed at the most important counts to assess what exactly is going on.
Katherine Ryan said that she hoped to “inject some insight and humour” throughout the “harrowing vigil” whilst Clark-Neal said he couldn’t wait to get involved in “what will no doubt be an unpredictable night”.
Channel 4’s Alternative Election Night is produced by ITN and Expectation.
