Michael McIntyre’s Big Show comes to BBC One from the London Palladium

Michael McIntyre’s Big Show returns to Saturday nights on BBC One for more superstar celebrity guests, amazing musical performances and a few extra surprises along the way – and all filmed in front of a live audience from the world-famous home of British entertainment, The London Palladium in the heart of theatreland.
This week, global superstar Liam Payne will perform his new song Stack it Up, survival expert and TV presenter Bear Grylls will face one of his toughest challenges as he hands over his phone to Michael for Send To All.
Plus there will be an amazing surprise for the Unexpected Star, as they get the opportunity to perform live in front of over 2,000 people on stage at the Palladium.

The story of how three oddball teenage bluesmen – Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill, and Frank Beard – became one of the biggest, most beloved bands on the planet, all while maintaining a surrealist mystique that continues to intrigue fans and entice onlookers 50 years after the band’s inception.
ZZ Top are an American rock band formed in 1969 in Houston, Texas with the group releasing their first album, ZZ Top’s First Album, in 1971. Beginning with blues-inspired rock, the trio later incorporated new wave, punk rock and dance-rock by using synthesizers. Their songs have a reputation for containing humorous lyrics laced with double-entendres and innuendos that Kenneth Williams would be proud of.
Their top-selling album comes from 1983 with the release of Eliminator, which sold more than 10 million copies stateside. Total record sales of 25 million place ZZ Top among the top-100-selling artists in the United States, according to the Recording Industry Association of America. By 2014, ZZ Top had sold more than 50 million albums worldwide and they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.

This episode reveals fresh insights into how George V rescued the monarchy by dumping their German roots and rebranding the family as quintessentially British, until his wayward son Edward VIII nearly brought the dynasty crashing down with the abdication crisis, only for his stammering younger brother Bertie and his wife Elizabeth to step in and save the day.
In July 1917, Britain was at war with Germany and hatred of all things German, including the royal family, was rife. King George V faced a crisis. In response, he ruthlessly forced all of his German relations living in Britain to change their identity. He changed his family’s name from the German Saxe Coburg-Gotha to the couldn’t-get-more-English Windsor.
And he allowed his cousin the Russian Tsar and his family to perish at the hands of the Bolsheviks. As monarchies around the world were toppling, the Windsors triumphed. They have always followed one crucial rule: survive, no matter what it takes, whatever the cost.
