Her Majesty The Queen will address the nation on Sunday, Buckingham Palace announces.
The address to the UK and the Commonwealth will be broadcast at 8.00pm BST on television, radio and on the Royal Family’s social media channels.
BBC One and ITV are expected to show the recorded address, which has already been filmed at Windsor Castle, on Sunday evening along with Sky News and BBC News Channel. Over 28 million tuned in to watch Prime Minister Boris Johnson on 23rd March announce the social distancing measures.
The address comes as the death toll in the UK continues to rise, now standing at 3,605.
The Royal Family has dealt with coronavirus first hand after Prince Charles tested positive. He has now since recovered after isolating in Scotland. The heir to the throne appeared via webcam today to declare open the NHS Nightingale Hospital in London.
