Upmarket Art For Corrie

ITVCoronation Street is going upmarket with Corner Shop owner Dev Alahan and his new lady-friend Tara Mandal opening their own art gallery. Unlikely artist Bill Webster is the first to be signed up to create work for the new gallery.

The soap character Tara, and plank of wood Dev, plan to sell posh paintings according to The Sun.

They report Dev comments: “The only thing we need do now is draw up the business plan and we, my dear, are about to make Tate Britain look like Little Britain.”

A Granada insider told The Sun: “Weatherfield is really changing at the moment. Now we’re getting an art gallery.”

Obviously Weatherfield is 30 years behind the rest of the UK, Crossroads featured an art gallery storyline in 1978. The Coronation Street story will unfold during February.
