Coronation Street casts Trevor Bannister as a dodgy solicitor.

Are You Being Served? The BBC sitcom starred Trevor from 1972 to 1979

Trevor is best known for his role in the 1970s department store sitcom Are You Being Served? which his character, Mr Lucas, appeared as a junior sales assistant in the menswear department. He starred in the popular sitcom from its 1972 pilot until 1979.

The Mirror reports that his appearance on the cobbles will see his character helping Danny Baldwin (Bradley Walsh) con Mike (Johnny Briggs) into signing the factory over to him. Briggs is bowing out from the soap after three decades with his character battling Alzheimer’s.

“Viewers will be shocked. Mike will recognise fewer of his friends and family and is convinced he is still married to ex-wife Alma, who died in 2001. He even believes Elsie Tanner is running his factory for him.” – A source noted to The Mirror of how the story will progress

Trevor appeared in early evening soap Crossroads in 1974 in two roles

Bannister appeared in ITV transmitted soap opera Crossroads in 1974, playing twin brothers. The plot saw Trevor feature as both Keith and Ken Willets  who stayed at the infamous motel before doing a runner when the proprietor Meg (Noele Gordon) discovered the pair had been staying in a chalet under single board rather than for paying the double occupancy rate.

Before their departure the storyline saw them both woo motel hairdresser Vera Downend (Zeph Gladstone) and Keith became involved with a ‘dodgy’ casino which Clifford Layton, actor Johnny Briggs, was also concerned with. His arrival in Corrie next month will see him re-united with former Crossroads co-star Johnny who plays Mike Baldwin.
