Lost In Austen for the Big Screen

ITVITV drama Lost in Austen is apparently being remade as a movie.

The drama series, which was a hit with critics despite suffering from a lack of viewer interest starred Jemima Rooper and Gemma Arterton in the lead roles. The new big screen version will be overseen by Oscar-winning producer Sam Mendes.

While currently no cast have been lined up the original ITV writer Guy Andrews will be working on the film as screenwriter. Lost In Austen evolved around Rooper’s character of Amanda who stepped back in time to mingle with characters from the Jane Austin books including Elizabeth Bennett played by Gemma Arterton who has gone on to USA success with parts in the recent Bond movie and Prince of Persia.

Jemima Rooper recently commented that ITV may itself be planning a second series of the drama, and she would love to continue playing the character of Amanda. The latest production is to be made by Sony Pictures.
