My Family most watched sitcom of 2008
BBC One’s comedy series My Family, which stars Robert Lindsay and Zoe Wanamaker, was the most watched sitcom of last year.
BBC One’s sitcom My Family is still enjoying rating success despite have clocked up nine seasons.
Last year it was the most watched sitcom series, ratings wise, on television with an average audience of just under ten million viewers. This figure is a combination of the broadcast in England and Scotland; Scottish viewers were a week behind with episodes. My Family has been a consistent ratings winner for the BBC since it launched in 2000 and has been a firm favourite with viewers though it hasn’t always been a critic’s favourite.

Not far behind My Family in second place as the most watched sitcom of 2008 was ITV’s Benidorm, which stars Johnny Vegas. The sunshine series averaged 5.2 million viewers while in third place was BBC One’s The Green Green Grass, a spin-off from Only Fools and Horses.
The Green Green Grass, which follows the countryside adventures of former Peckham residents Boyice and Marlene, averaged 5.1 million viewers in its Friday night slot.
