Kara Tointon and Ricky Groves written out of EastEnders

EastEnders stars Ricky Groves and Kara Tointon are leaving the soap in the summer according to a report in The Mirror.
The pair who play loveable grease-monkey Garry Hobbs and unlucky-in-love Dawn Swann will bow out of the soap following a dramatic storyline which is expected to air this summer.

Speaking of their exits a show insider said “Viewers will have to wait and see if they have a happy ending, or whether they go their seperate ways.”

“It has been the best four years of my life. I will always hold the show dear to my heart and be an avid fan.” said Kara.

“It has been wonderful playing Garry. But I am looking forward to new things.” said Ricky.

The soap’s head honcho Diederick Santer paid tribute to their “great performances” and wished them both well for the future.

“Ricky and Kara go with our thanks and our best wishes.” he said.

The exit of Tointon comes just a year after her current boyfriend ex-EastEnder Joe Swash was dropped from the long running soap. Since leaving the soap, Swash 27 won the eigth series of ITV’s I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here and has appeared in panto.
