Michael Parkinson criticises Jade Goody
Sir Michael Parkinson has criticised reality television star Jade Goody whose funeral was held over the weekend.
In a bold move Sir Michael Parkinson has spoken out against Jade Goody who died from cancer on Mother’s Day.
The controversial reality television star was buried over the weekend in a funeral compared to that of Princess Diana by many tabloids. The chat show legend made comments about Goody to the Radio Times.
“Jade Goody has her own place in the history of television and, while it’s significant, it’s nothing to be proud of. Her death is as sad as the death of any young person, but it’s not the passing of a martyr or a saint or Princess Di.” – Sir Michael Parkinson in an interview with the Radio Times.
According to The Sun Parkinson described Goody as “ignorant”, “puerile” and said that she represented “all that’s paltry and wretched about Britain today”.
Jade first appeared on Big Brother in 2002, coming fourth in the third series of the programme
His comments are bound to provoke the wrath of the tabloids and Goody’s fans despite the fact it wasn’t so long ago that the reality star was widely condemned as a racist following an infamous appearance on Celebrity Big Brother.
Jade Goody’s decision to play out her cancer in front of the cameras didn’t sit well with everyone and whilst the papers lapped it up others were not as comfortable with the idea. Katie Price, better known as Jordan, was one of those who criticised the coverage of Goody’s cancer which resulted in her being banned from the funeral.
