A female Coronation Street director has been injured earlier today whilst working on the set of the ITV1 soap.
At around 12.30pm, preparations were underway for filming a scene, which involved a small amount of non-essential background car movement. However, filming came to a halt when an action car collided with the unnamed female member of the production crew.
No other cast or crew members were involved. The director, later named as Kay Patrick, was taken to Manchester Royal Hospital to be checked over by doctors.

A spokeswoman for the ITV soap said “We can confirm an accident occured on the set of Coronation Street today during filming. The accident occured as the crew were setting up for a scene which involved a small amount of vehicle movement. Contrary to press speculation, this accident did not occur during the filming of a stunt. The female director has been injured as a consequence and been taken to hospital. No other member of the cast or crew has been injured.

ITV’s health and safety team on-site in Manchester are currently conducting an investigation into how this accident occured and are liaising with the Health and Safety Executive.”

Patrick has also appeared as an actress in Z Cars, Doctor Who and the original Crossroads. She has as a producer or director also worked on such shows as Mersey Beat, Sunburn and the Carlton version of Crossroads .
