Former Brookside Actress To Appear In Doctors

Actress Karen Drury, better known to soap fans as Brookside‘s Susannah Farnham, is returning to the world of soap with a guest appearance on long running BBC daytime soap Doctors.

Former Brookside actress Karen Drury will star as housewife Kirsty Thornton in an upcoming episode of Doctors it has been announced. The episode “Booty Call” which is set to air on Friday 10th July 2009 features a plot not a million miles away from Brookside‘s sensational drama. Viewers will see Drury’s character Kirsty cheat on her husband but there’s a shock in store when her secret lover collapses in the bedroom – unable to find a pulse and in a desperate panic, Kirsty is forced to hide the body in the boot of the car in the garage. When her husband returns home at that very moment and says he needs to use the car Kirsty is thrown into a deep panic. When Kirsty’s husband Clem arrives at The Mill to try to discuss his constipation he soon has bigger matters on his mind when he hears a phone ringing in the car and finds the body in the boot!
Drury starred as Brookside‘s Susannah Farnham for over 5 years before leaving the soap in 2000. The character of Susannah was killed off in a high profile whodunit murder storyline. Since leaving the soap, Drury has had roles in the recently axed Heartbeat, Holby City and other roles in Doctors.
Meanwhile, it has been announced that actor Francis Magee will also appear in the Birmingham-based medical series. The eagle eyed soap fans amongst you may know that Magee is also no stranger to soap having appeared in EastEnders as Clare Tyler’s nasty biological father Liam many moons ago. Magee will appear in the soap on Tuesday 7th July in episode “The Real World.”
Michelle Lukes will also be returning to her role as Lisa Torres in the daytime soap next month.
