Neil Jordan hopes The Borgias will run for four seasons

The Borgias{jcomments on}The Borgias creator Neil Jordan has said he is planning for the historical drama to run for four-seasons.

The Showtime drama revolves around the notorious Italian renaissance family and is widely seen as a successor to the broadcaster’s previous historical drama, The Tudors. Neil Jordan, who created the series, is hoping it will last for four seasons and is planning the story-arcs with that in mind.

“I saw this a four-year project really..In the first season, I felt like it was my job to very carefully plot out the historical context.  Now, as I’m writing the second season, I can get much more down and dirty much more quickly. It becomes much more drenched in blood.” – Neil Jordan speaking to Hollywood Reporter

Showtime have renewed The Borgias for a second series which will air early next year on the broadcaster. The drama will get its UK premier on Sky Atlantic in August. The series stars Jeremy Irons, Holliday Grainger, Joanne Whalley, Colm Feore, Derek Jacobi, Ruta Gedmintas and Luke Pasqualino.
