Ian Rumsey to leave Daybreak

According to Broadcast, Rumsey will leave the show at the end of this year, with the hunt already on to find a replacement. Rumsey, who became editor in May 2010, overseen the transition from GMTV to Daybreak. The decision to replace GMTV with Daybreak caused a backlash from viewers last year, of which is still being felt today in the ratings.
In recent months Daybreak has now settled in the ratings, managing to attract between 700,000 – 800,000 viewers each morning. Daybreak continues to be beaten by BBC One’s Breakfast, which is hovering around 1.5 million viewers. ATV Today has been told that there is “no significant changes planned” for September, which is usually when programmes re-launch.
