Hollyoaks’ Donovan and Maalik families to expand with new castings
The Channel 4 soap’s latest trailer – unleashed earlier today – offered a first look at newbies Glenn and Imran.
Darcy Wilde (Aisling Jarrett-Gavin) has been meddling with a mystery man over the past few weeks whose identity has now been revealed as Jesse and Adam Donovan’s father, Glenn.
Glenn, played by former Charmed actor Neil Roberts, was married to troubled Tracey who he had hoped he could fix until a lustful affair put paid to their marriage. During their time together, they became parents to Adam, Liam and Jesse but Glenn found it hard to relate to Grace and Claire as they were not his own.
“I am thrilled to be part of the cast of Hollyoaks not only because it’s such an established show but also because my own children are huge fans. There is a great mix of professionalism but with a lot of fun here at Hollyoaks and I have thoroughly enjoyed coming in as part of the Donovan family. Finally I can tweet who I actually am and tell my family!” – Neil Roberts
The character of Glenn already made a brief appearance on Hollyoaks last month, although his identity wasn’t touched on at that point. His scenes did, however, suggest that there is no love lost between himself and Darcy.
Glenn will next appear at the beginning of October.
Meanwhile, Ijaz Rana has joined the cast to play Imran Maalik, brother to Yasmine and Farrah, half-brother to Sami and son to Misbah Maalik. Imran has been billed as a ‘quiet, charming boy’ with a passion for imagery by Lime Pictures.
Imran and big-sister Yasmine have an unbreakable bond that makes them best friends as well as siblings.
“Joining Hollyoaks has been a pleasure not only because it’s my first onscreen job but also because joining the Hollyoaks family has been a heart-warming experience! I’m very excited to keep working on my character and I’m looking forward to see how the audience feel about him.” – newcomer to acting, Ijaz noted
Ijaz will first appear on screens at the end of September.
