Operation Elveden: Former police officer arrested
Officers from Operation Elveden have arrested a former police officer.
The arrest was made at 06:30 this morning by officers from Operation Elveden, the Met Police investigation into allegations of inappropriate payments to police and public officials.
The 57-year-old man was arrested at his home address on suspicion of misconduct in a public office. He previously served in the Met Specialist Operations command, based in central London, and retired several years ago.
Today’s arrest takes the number to 27. Operation Elveden is running in conjunction with Operation Weeting, which is the on-going investigation into phone-hacking.
