ITV turn to God to save disastrous Daybreak

Former choirboy and Songs of Praise presenter Aled Jones will be joining Daybreak in its latest revamp, which appears to be a reversal into GMTV in all but name.

Since GMTV was axed, under much smugness by ITV, the replacement has failed to gain the support of viewers nor improve upon GMTV’s ratings. In the appreciation index Daybreak became ranked the least appreciated show on TV.

“I am so thrilled to be joining ITV for their breakfast show.  I am thoroughly looking forward to sharing the sofa every morning with such a consummate professional as Lorraine Kelly.  We’ve known each other for a very long time and have always had a lot of fun together.  We hope that the viewers enjoy being part of our breakfast family.” – Jones said.

Lorraine, already presents a successful weekday morning show on the channel, will be joined by Aled Jones on the breakfast sofa as Daybreak’s main presenters.

“I’m really looking forward to this challenge and to working with Aled who is a warm, funny and a thoroughly decent bloke and is already a good friend.” – adds Kelly.

The pair will take up their new roles later this year, it remains to be seen wheather they can reverse the fortunes of a tarnished brand.
