In the first raft of renewals by The CW cult favourites Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries have been given new season orders. The two shows, two of the most popular programmes on the broadcaster, were widely expected to be renewed. While they have both suffered from lower ratings than in previous year that’s the case for all of The CW’s shows.

The Vampire Diaries, starring Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder, will return for a fourth season. The season three finale, due to air later this month, will likely reveal the fate as to which characters will be sticking around in Mystic Falls and which will depart to ‘the other-side’. Actor Matt Davis, who plays Alaric Saltzman, has been cast in The CW’s new pilot Cult from Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage putting his future with The Vampire Diaries in question.

Supernatural will be back for an 8th season as Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki once again play the Winchesters. It was recently announced that Jeremy Carver had been appointed the new show-runner for Supernatural taking over from Sera Gamble; the news was widely seen as confirmation the series would be back for an 8th season.

As yet The CW has not revealed the fates of The Secret Circle, Ringer, Nikita, Gossip Girl and Hart of Dixie. Ringer, starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, is widely expected to be cancelled because of its poor performance in the latter half of its run. Similarly Nikita, starring Maggie Q, is also expected to be cancelled because of its low ratings. Teen drama Gossip Girl is widely tipped to be renewed for a sixth and final season while Hart of Dixie is seen as a “bubble show! Witchy drama The Secret Circle is widely expected to be renewed.

    • Great review! What an exniitcg ep. I really like how all the smaller characters that were one dimensional are getting more involved. Jeremy and bonnie feels good and Tyler Caroline is very interesting. Where is elena going now? I really wish Damon. I think they have been softening him up and I hope that’s why. What do you think? How long do you think Katherine will stay in the tomb? Thanks

    • This review is from: Vampire Diaries was a great seeirs!! I didn’t like how the last book in the seeirs was going but it ended up great! The book starts with: girl meets hot vampire Stephen and his also very hot but evil brother Damon. She is in love with the kind hearted Stephen, but evil Damon wants her all to himself. She trys to stay away from Damon but no matter what she does he keeps finding ways to get to her to take her blood, slowly turning her into a vampire. She cannot tell Stephen what is going on because he is still weak from a horrific battle with Damon, and if she would tell him he would become so angry he would try to kill Damon and end up dying because he isn’t strong enough to battle him again so soon. The whole seeirs has a great plot, but I definitly recommend buying all the books before you start reading the seeirs or you will be left hanging untill the next book. Trust me I know! I started reading the Awakening #1 in the Vampire Diaries seeirs, and I had to end up waiting for two months to find the second book and another month to find the third and fourth book. I have read the seeirs about 6 times since last year. L.J. Smith is a great writer, if you like the vampire diaries you should read the Secret Circle seeirs and her Night World seeirs.

    • I’m not a huge Bonnie fan, I never think she’s gotten all that much dleveopment as a character unlike almost everyone else on the show. And I really didn’t like her this past episode, to me she made all of it about her and ignored the fact that Jeremy is going through all this stuff as well and is clearly confused about all of it. She should have been more open to talk to him about it and should have been more understanding about what he’s going through. Jeremy wanted to talk to her about it but she walked away and ignored him. She has a right to be upset, but she took it too far IMO.
