Cold Feet gets eighth series on ITV

The revived series will see another outing on the channel next year.

Cold Feet follows the lives of a group of 50-something friends who reside in Manchester; James Nesbitt, Hermione Norris, Robert Bathurst, John Thomson and Fay Ripley star.

Series seven achieved a consolidated average of 5.1 million and a 21.3% audience share.

“The nation’s love affair with Cold Feet continues, and we’re thrilled to announce a new series for 2018. Mike Bullen’s honest depiction of enduring friendship has a very special place in the audience’s affections.” – Victoria Fea, ITV Drama Commissioner

Viewers were first introduced to friends Adam and Rachel, Pete and Jenny, and Karen and David in 1997. ITV originally aired five series up to 2003, with Rachel (Helen Baxendale) killed off in the last original run.

The relationship-based comedy-drama returned to the channel’s schedules in September last year after thirteen years ‘on ice’ – reuniting Nesbitt, Norris, Bathurst, Thomson and Ripley as their characters experience middle-age.

“I’m delighted that viewers still feel invested in the lives and loves of our imperfect heroes. And I’m excited that we’re being given the opportunity to tell the next chapter of their stories. We’ve got plenty of trials and tribulations in store for them as they navigate their way through middle age, and more than a few laughs and tears along the way.” – Mike Bullen, Cold Feet creator and writer

The new six-part series will go into production next spring in Manchester for broadcast later that year on ITV. Cold Feet is produced by Big Talk Productions.
