Stateside police, paramedics and firefighters drama to air on Sky Living
Sky Living has announced it is to broadcast 9-1-1 starring Angela Bassett and Peter Krause.
“I’m delighted to bring the heart-stoppingly dramatic 9-1-1 to Sky Living where it will thrill viewers alongside fellow best-loved US dramas. Its nail-biting blend of breathtaking danger and raw emotion will have UK viewers – including me! – completely hooked.” – Adam MacDonald, director of Sky Living
9-1-1 is described by the broadcaster as a ‘provocative new procedural drama from Twentieth Century Fox Television’. The series is to head to UK screens later this year, with Sky as yet to finalise a dedicated broadcast date.
Already an established hit across the pond over fifteen million viewers tuned into the first episode. It’s popularity seems to be thanks to the dramatic drama which unfolds in each edition – bringing to life the high-pressure experiences of police, paramedics and firefighters.
While in the past there have been stand alone shows dedicated to each service – here in the UK we can easily recall ATV’s Emergency Ward 10 for hospital life, Thames Television’s The Bill for cop sagas and LWT’s London’s Burning for fire-fighting – 9-1-1 brings the three services together to explore the teams who are thrust into the most frightening, shocking and heart-stopping situations. These emergency responders must try to balance saving those who are at their most vulnerable with solving problems in their own lives.
Creators Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear reimagine the procedural drama with 9-1-1. The series stars Angela Bassett, Peter Krause, Connie Britton, Oliver Stark, Aisha Hinds, Kenneth Choi and Rockmond Dunbar.
