Louis Walsh: I Hate The Voice UK

X Factor judge Louis Walsh has revealed he isn’t a fan of BBC One’s The Voice.

Walsh has launched an outspoken attack on the BBC One talent competition comparing it with Fame Academy and also blasting Vocal Coach Will.i.am. The X Factor judge also stated he was pleased ITV series Britain’s Got Talent eventually pulled ahead in the ratings.

“I hate The Voice,…I think everyone thought The Voice UK would be like the US version, and it’s not….It’s dull and boring. I’m glad BGT is winning the ratings battle – it’s much better…..”The best thing about it are the revolving chairs, and once you’ve seen that, the novelty wears off.” – Louis Walsh in Heat magazine

The Voice UK launched on BBC One with much fanfare and its ‘build auditions’ proved to be a hit with viewers. When it clashed with Britain’s Got Talent on ITV1 The Voice had more viewers with a margin of four million for one show. The Voice’s success prompted ITV to re-schedule Britain’s Got Talent to avoid further clashes. However, once The Voice passed the ‘blind auditions’ and moved to the Battle Rounds viewer interest dipped and Britain’s Got Talent surged ahead.

In his interview with Heat magazine Walsh stated he wouldn’t want to be a judge on The Voice saying ‘No way, it’s not great TV. It’s like Fame Academy all those years ago.’ Walsh was also quite critical of Voice coach Will.i.am describing him as “ridiculous” adding ‘He thinks he’s got all the answers, but if he didn’t have Fergie in the band, where would he be?  Fergie is the real star. I would love her on The X Factor, and to be a judge on the show”

Walsh also described the X Factor as “the biggest show on TV and the other shows are just copying us with their silly chairs…..Simon Cowell is the king of TV and if he’s not involved then it’s not good.”

The X Factor will return to ITV1 later this year.
