Jennifer Hudson departs The Voice UK while Meghan Trainor takes a red chair

Meghan Trainor joins The Voice UK.

“I can’t wait for the next series of The Voice, especially to hear all of the incredible talent that will no doubt be walking onto that stage. I absolutely adore Jennifer and will massively miss her. However, Meghan is a fab choice to add to the Coaching line up and it’s always exciting when a new Coach arrives on the show” – Emma Willis, host The Voice

Meghan Trainor is to join The Voice UK as a new coach alongside Sir Tom Jones, will.i.am and Olly Murs following Jennifer Hudson confirming last night that she will be vacating her red chair on the talent series as she prepares for the December release of the hotly anticipated film adaptation of Cats and commences filming the Aretha Franklin biopic, Respect.

Trainor burst onto the music scene with the worldwide smash single All About That Bass in 2014 – a song that made her one of only five female artists to achieve a Diamond certification. Thus far, she has achieved eight multi-platinum singles and two platinum albums, sold out three world tours, and has not only penned hit songs for herself but written for a variety of artists across pop and country, including JLo and Rascal Flatts.

Today, Meghan also released her brand-new single, Wave, featuring rising New York singer, songwriter and producer Mike Sabath. The track heralds the impending arrival of her anxiously awaited third full-length album, Treat Myself, coming soon. Sir Tom Jones, will.i.am and Olly Murs all return to their big red chairs following a summer spent entertaining audiences around the world on their respective tours.

Filming commences this October with the series set to launch on ITV in the New Year.

“Meghan Trainor is such an exciting addition to The Voice UK. She has blown us away with her energy and enthusiasm and, although our youngest coach, an impressive career in music set to inspire all who join Team Meghan. We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks, love and luck for the future to Jennifer Hudson. She has been a tremendous Coach, loved by viewers and the singers she has worked with during her time on the show.” – Katie Rawcliffe, Head of Entertainment, ITV
