Versace the pig and Walter the wallaby star in the latest episode of The Yorkshire Vet

Telly Today: TV picks for Tuesday September 10th, including a trip to the vets.

One to Watch: The Yorkshire Vet, Channel 5 at 8pm

Channel 5 continues its coverage of life in two busy veterinary practices in rural Yorkshire as tonight’s episode sees Julian called out in the middle of the night to save a cow whose uterus has prolapsed whilst giving birth. The cow is restless and her life is in danger.

Later in Thirsk sheep farmer Richard Todd rushes to see Peter, concerned about a lamb that has been born with an unusual cyst on its head. The diagnosis is a life-threatening issue.

Also tonight the vets deal with a castration, which Versace the pig may not be too keen about and Walter the wallaby has seemingly damaged his knee, but he’s not a happy patient either!

Holby City, BBC One England, Wales and NI at 8pm

It’s Ric’s (Hugh Quarshie) 65th birthday but, making mistakes at work, he is caving under the pressure when his magnum opus returns and recognises that he’s not the surgeon he once was… Will he have the courage to admit that he has a problem?

Putting any reconciliation with Ange (Dawn Steele) at risk, Fletch (Alex Walkinshaw) goes on a mission to find out if Chloe’s (Amy Lennox) claims of Evan (Jack Ryder) are true… but whose side is he really on?

After Sacha (Bob Barrett) jumps to the wrong conclusion about baby Isla, Essie (Kaye Wragg) finds herself assuming the role of a newly adoptive mother and is forced into living a lie.

River City, BBC One Scotland at 8pm

With their wedding day imminent, Scarlett and Dougie’s relationship is more strained than ever. At the wedding rehearsal, Scarlett’s selfish actions make Dougie feel unwanted. He shares his woes with Poppy who is shocked by her father’s bitterness.

Under pressure, Dougie’s mental health deteriorates and he takes drastic action to regain control with a surprise proposal for Scarlett. Stevie’s concerns about his mother’s sudden disappearance deepen when he discovers her discarded mobile on the street. Word spreads to Suzie who decides to tell her side of the story and expose Dougie’s duplicity.

With the search for Scarlett underway, Dougie forces his fiancé to admit she allowed him to take the fall for Callum’s crimes. As Scarlett’s lies unravel, Dougie begins to lose control putting her in grave danger.

The South Bank Show Originals 2019: Boogie Woogie, Sky Arts at 10,30pm

This South Bank Show looks at Boogie Woogie, the piano-based dance music that began life in the logging camps of Texas in the early twentieth century.

Using the expertise of piano player, Big Joe Duskin, the programme charted the history of boogie-woogie from its beginnings in the shack houses of impoverished labourers, its spread across America thanks to the steam train, through to its presence in all forms of popular music.
