One to Watch: Inside Cadbury, Channel 4 at 8pm

Tonight’s one-off documentary goes deep inside the Willie Wonka world of Cadbury, Britain’s biggest and best-loved chocolate maker.

The programme’s unprecedented access occurs during a make-or-break year.

Behind closed doors at the famous Bournville plant, a team of dedicated scientists struggle to meet the biggest challenge the company’s faced for a century – to dramatically cut sugar from their Dairy Milk recipe. It’s the flagship chocolate bar on which the reputation and fortunes of the company have been built.

Can the new bar match up to its legendary predecessor? On the huge production lines, real-life oompa loompas toil to meet Britain’s insatiable appetite for chocolate – pumping out national favourites like Creme Eggs. The firm’s Easter Creme Egg campaign finds Cadbury agents ‘reverse shoplifting’ as they hide prize-winning white eggs around the country.

Elsewhere in the factory new flavours of chocolate are put into production, with wacky recipes invented by lucky members of the public.

The Pet Shop Boys – Live in Hyde Park, BBC Four at 8pm

BBC Four brings more BBC Music to screens with live coverage of the Pet Shop Boys headline set at BBC Radio 2 Live in Hyde Park.

Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe are the most successful duo in UK music history, having achieved 42 top 30 singles in the UK since 1985, so there’s no shortage of hits for them to choose from, as they play their only UK gig of the year in front of 50,000 festival-goers. The beeb also suggest that fans should keep an eye out for a mystery guest artist popping up during proceedings.

So get ready to put on some weird clothes and sing along to songs such as West End Girls, Heart, Always on My Mind, Opportunities and What Have I Done To Deserve This?

5 Gold Rings, ITV, STV and UTV at 7pm

We’re half way through the latest series as Phillip Schofield returns with the third episode of six of the hit gameshow where players have to find the answer to a question and put a ring on it. 

Each week, two teams go head-to-head in an attempt to win over £50,000. Using one of their 5 Gold Rings they must find the answer to a beautifully animated visual question displayed on the show’s famous giant interactive floor. Each ring is worth a different amount of money and as the money goes up the rings get smaller; making the answers much harder to find. The stakes are high because each team gets just one chance to answer each question. If they answer correctly then they will bank the cash.  But if they are incorrect, the opposing team will get the chance to answer the question and steal the cash for themselves.

Top Boy, now streaming on Netflix

Ashley Walters and Kane Robinson reprise their roles as ‘Dushane’ and ‘Sully’, joined by newcomer Micheal Ward as ‘Jamie’ in the third series of Top Boy.

Shone Romulus returns as ‘Dris’ and Ashley Thomas returns as ‘Jermaine’. New cast members include Lisa Dwan, Jasmine Jobson, Kadeem Ramsay, Saffron Hocking, Kola Bokinni and Hope Ikpoku. The drama features musical artists Simbi Ajikawo ‘Little Simz’, David Omoregie ‘Dave’.

The original production aired on for two series on Channel 4 before its end in 2013; both runs are now globally available on Netflix. The new episodes pick up as Dushane (Walters) returns from exile to his home in London to reclaim his throne in the highly lucrative drug market.

He teams up with Sully (Robinson), his spiritual brother, partner and sometime rival who is also returning to the same streets after his own form of exile – prison – comes to an end. Awaiting them both is Jamie (Ward), the young, hungry and ruthless gang leader whose ambitions leave no place for Dushane and Sully.

The next chapter, consisting of ten all-new episodes launched on September 13th.
