Season Five Of Primeval Heading To ITV1

The fifth season of sci-fi series Primeval will be shown on ITV1.

Producers Impossible Pictures have confirmed the fifth season will kick off on ITV1 on June 16th. The fifth season of Primeval have already aired on digital channel Watch – premiering last year shortly after the channel repeated the fourth season. Primeval aired on Watch first as part of the co-production deal which saw the sci-fi renewed for a fourth and fifth series after originally being cancelled in 2009.

The fifth season of Primeval once against stars Andrew-Lee Potts, Hannah Spearritt and Ben Miller along with Ciaran McMenamin and Alexander Siddig. The future of Primeval beyond its fifth season is currently unclear and may depend on how the it fares on ITV1 in the coming weeks.

A Canadian spin-off, titled Primeval: New World, has been commissioned and will star former Vampire Diaries actress Sara Canning. Primeval: New World will air on Watch in the UK later this year.
