Aston Merrygold joins cast of CBBC’s Almost Never

Aston Merrygold is set to join the cast of hit CBBC show, Almost Never, which returns to the channel and BBC iPlayer in late October.

The comedy-drama follows the ups and downs of band The Wonderland, made up of Harry, Nate and Oakley, as they try to make it big in the music industry alongside their arch rivals Girls Here First.

Singer and TV personality Aston joins the cast for series two which begins later this month, playing The Wonderland’s new manager Jordan, joining a star-studded cast including Emily Atack, Colin Hoult and Kimberly Wyatt.

The first series of Almost Never saw the boy band embark on the road to pop stardom, whilst juggling friends, family, school and relationships. With guest appearances from Fleur East and Tess Daly, as well as a world class soundtrack, the Beeb note that the series proved popular with viewers.

Episodes 1-6 of series two will be available on iPlayer towards the end of October, alongside the first episode on CBBC.

Aston is a singer and songwriter who is best known as one fourth of the R&B group JLS alongside Marvin Humes, Oritse Williams and JB Gill. The band were popularised through ITV’s The X Factor in 2008 with subsequent career highlights including five number one hits and a MOBO win.

JLS went their separate ways in 2013 and Aston has since performed as a solo artist as well as taken on a series of TV roles including as a judge for Sky One’s Got to Dance and as a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing for the Beeb.
