Simon Cowell would 'like Canadian X Factor'

On a visit to Canada to promote the X Factor US, he has hinted at launching a Canadian version.
Simon Cowell has been in Canada on a promotional tour for X Factor US which returns for a second season in September. While visiting he has spoken about recent Canadian talent which is dominating music around the world such as Justin Bieber and Carly Rae Jespen.

“What’s in my mind is either we join X Factor up so we can have Canadian contestants, which I think would make sense, or if I could persuade the broadcaster and, more importantly, if we could find the right team, who I really trust, who gets what’s going on in the market now, to say ‘I’ll find you the talent.’ . . . And I’m determined to do that.” – Cowell speaking in Canada.

Canada did air Canadian Idol from 2003 – 2008 but station CTV decided to ‘suspend’ the show production following ‘economic climate’. It was due to ‘rest’ for one year but it never came back after that.
